"Those at the top of the mountain didn't fall there"
Calling all adventurous souls – we have the perfect challenge for you! Embark on a climbing adventure up Africa’s highest point and the world’s highest freestanding mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. Kilimanjaro towers over the surrounding plains and the terrain reaches steeply upwards through equatorial forests, open moorland and alpine desert to the snow-capped summit.
At nearly 6000 metres, this ancient volcanic massif is made up of three peaks; Kibo (the main peak), Mawenzi and Shira (the two lesser peaks). They nurture a rich and carefully protected biodiversity yet the origins of Kilimanjaro’s name are shrouded in mystery. A successful ascent is a serious physical and mental challenge that is not to be taken lightly. However, it is achievable by anyone of reasonable fitness who is willing to take the time to prepare. There are few such peaks accessible to the regular tourist and climbable without specialist mountaineering gear and skills.
If you are attracted more to the water than the mountains, the stunning Mnyera and Ruhudji play host to our fly fishing tour for any angling enthusiasts! If you would like to extend your adventures in Tanzania and perhaps go on a safari or visit neighbouring Kenya and/or Zanzibar, please look at our optional tour additions to create the trip of lifetime in Africa.
To give you an idea of how easy or hard you may find our activities we have an easy-to-read “Activity Meter”. This is by no means definitive as what might be challenging to one person may be easy to another. If you have any doubts please ask one of our team.
