Eastern Cape Holiday Extensions

Additions for South Africa Adventures!

With our Eastern Cape Holiday Extensions, we offer a great selection of day trips that you can add to your trip to South Africa!

Option 1: The Real City Tour - Tour Code ZAF004

The Real City Tour gives a great perspective on the development of cities in South Africa.
It covers the city centre with its English heritage and then proceeds to the townships where 75% of residents live.
You’ll be surprised by the diversity of the townships with contrasts of shack dwellings against new housing developments and middle class areas. The myths about townships being poverty stricken shack-lands will be dispelled as you’ll be able to see the growth of these towns. Townships are the heart of urban African life and a repository of history, culture and life stories.
They are incredibly vibrant and dynamic areas that are both heart-breaking and heart-warming.
Your guides are locals who love to share their life experiences and the Xhosa culture.

  • This tour departs daily at 10AM until 1:30PM for a minimum of two people.
  • Pick up and drop off from your accommodation.
  • Local professional guides.
  • Includes a visit to a township school for tea or a local shebeen on weekends and school holidays for a drink.
  • Fair Trade Tourism Accredited.

Tour Price (Per Person)

Option 2: The Shebeen Tour - Tour Code ZAF005

The Shebeen Tour will take you on an unforgettable journey to experience the diversity of the townships in South Africa. Shebeens were previously the illegal drinking houses or inns particular to the country found within the township communities.
You’ll have a township tour and relax at one of our carefully selected Shebeens for drinks and dinner. You’ll enjoy the unbeatable hospitality of your African hosts and absorb the community atmosphere with the locals.
As most tourist accommodation is found in areas of the city where there is little opportunity to mingle with the ordinary South African, our guides are in constant contact with the local taverners to select the best venues for local entertainment and hospitality.
Shebeen tours have been proven popular as an opportunity for visitors to participate in day to day South African life.
In a city with a reputation for its friendliness, the experience is made all the more rewarding.

  • This tour departs daily at 4PM until 7:30PM for a minimum of two people.
  • Pick up and drop off from your accommodation.
